Willamette Valley 30K Walk n' Relay

Green Page

This year, we've decided to try and be as "Green" as we can be.
Here are some of our goals:

1. Less drive time and fuel use
Unlike some long distance events, with vans following along with participants, our event takes place on the beautiful bike paths of Alton Baker Park.  The only traffic is foot traffic!

2. Recycling and Composting on site

Waste Free Oregon will be helping us with recycling.

3. All collateral printed on 100% post consumer waste
with soy inks

We are also trying to do as much communication via the internet as possible and offer online registration.

4. Bulk water Refill
Water is available for refills.  Bring your own bottle - and fill it up at water station!  Please remember (if you bring plastic water bottles) use the recycling bins at the HUB to dispose of.  We will also provide a limited supply of bio-degradable cups.

5. No plastic race bags

All of your race information, bibs and perks will come clipped together, eliminating the need for a plastic bag.

6. Recycled Glass Medals

Our finisher medals are being handmade from 100% recycled glass.  Much thanks to Aurora Glass in Eugene, OR for providing socially responsible architectural and ornamental glass!

7. Wood Cookie Medals

Our finisher medals for the Family 5K are decorate-your-own-wood cookies, kindly donated from the Outdoor School!

During our search to be green, we've found plenty of useful information on the internet.  Here are some of our favorite websites:
