Kris Deane
Kris Deane is a fitness walker. As a driver supporting a relay running team years ago she spied a race competitor walking. She rolled down her window to offer the runner assistance (she assumed the runner was injured) and was answered back "I'm okay; I entered the walking division in this relay". That's all it took for Kris to put together a walking team for several years following. She has completed walks ranging in distance of 5k to marathons. Kris is a recently retired Program Manager from a local high tech company. Her skills managing program details have made her an excellent fit for administrative duties that are required to support all aspects of the Willamette Valley Relay. On race day, Kris can be found checking teams in at the start, monitoring the course during the relay and working the administrative table at the finish. Her behind-the- scenes administrative contribution is the Guide Book, race day game creation, and working at Wonders of Walking booths during trade fairs. At these fairs and during the year when Kris talks about the Willamette Valley Relay, you will most likely hear her say "Come play with us!"
