Tuesday, April 7th, is designated as National Start! Walking Day by the American Heart Association. An estimated 145 million American adults are overweight and 4 million are obese, placing more than a third of the working-age population at risk for chronic illnesses. Obesity-related diseases account for nearly 10 percent of all medical spending in the United States or an estimated $147 billion a year.

Portland, Oregon has a kick off scheduled from 11 am – 1 pm at the World Trade Center. Check online for a Walking Day rally path near you.

We are pleased to shout out:
Put a little group spirit in your step. Lace up your shoes, join with friends and laugh more than 4 times a day…let the child within brighten this month. Check out the WOW Walk Club – launching our third location hosted by REI--Bend, Oregon May 1. Check out the Free clinics being offered at REI on April 17 a clothing clinic and April 24 a walking clinic. After each we will head out the door.
