This November 2008 is historic for the election of President-elect Barack Obama last Tuesday. It is fitting that the presidential election is held during this month of vivid change. November comes between the fall and winter months. The leaves are almost completely gone from the trees, their brilliant colors fading as they flutter to the ground. The days are shorter and are marked by the beginning of the rainy season in the Northwest.
This is one of my favorite times for walking to observe the incredible shift going on all around us. It is also a time for reflecting on the past year, celebrating accomplishments and gratitude for all that we have.
