You may have noticed the return of those large, slowly moving yellow vehicles full of young learners over the past two weeks. This time of year, even those of us with grown children or no children can't help thinking about the upcoming generation. We feel that it is important as a community to support children in any way we can. That's why we chose CASA of Central Oregon as our beneficiary for the Sisters Stride into Autumn. A portion of proceeds from this event will help CASA provide a volunteer advocate for every abused and neglected child in Central Oregon. We want everyone to come walk with us in Sisters, not just for the beautiful walk, but to contribute just a little bit to this great organization.
FREE! Don't forget about the Swift Walk this Wednesday, September 17th. Walk with us to Chapman Elementary to view the Vaux Swifts as they fly into the chimney at sunset.

Many of you are involved with our Portland Walk Club...
"Joining Wonders of Walking has shown me how fun and beneficial walking can be. I enjoy the relaxed conversation with other walkers and walking is the best way to get to know an area ... It's nice to know that any Saturday morning all I need to do it show up in REI and I can enjoy a great start to the weekend." - Kathy
"I’ve been regularly walking with the NW Portland WOW group since January 2007, and find that I enjoy the interesting mix of friendly people that gathers every week. I don’t have a walking partner so WOW offers me a non-iPod walking experience. Initially I was the only member walking with Nordic poles, but other members are now enjoying the benefits of Nordic Walking. " - Jim
We are branching the Walk Club out to the REI Clackamas store. These friendly folks can't wait to get their own club started. To realize this goal, we are looking for some Walk Leaders. If you are in the Clackamas area and want to enjoy group walks on Saturday mornings while meeting new friends, email judy@wondersofwalking.com before October 7th.

These busy people, who range from casual exercisers to competitive athletes, are eating at the wrong times, choosing the wrong balance of carbohydrates, protein and
fat, drinking too little fluids, and consuming adequate iron. The question arises: How much better could these athletes perform?
